Concerns from the pictures presented- Will All furniture in the building be "wipeable" fabric, able to be sanitized? - Any stools in classrooms where students sit for more than 10-15 minutes should have back support due to posture issues and discomfort and the need to provide ergonomically correct seating. -Can we save money in the cafeteria with regular chairs instead of what looks to be "booths" ? -And the wall of windows in the 1st floor library area appears to be in the front of the school- with the way the world is- will this be a safety issue if we had an armed intruder-able to attack multiple people instantly ?
With the addition of 3 grades to the new school, what additions, upgrades and/or improvements are being made to the performing arts areas - auditorium, chorus room, band room? We currently have 2 auditoriums, 2 band rooms and 2 chorus room to accommodate 6-12 grades, and if not additions or improvements are made, we will have 1 auditorium, 1 chorus room and 1 band room for 7 grades.
How will class in the high school in the fall, effect the students? Will they be doing online school eventually, as construction gears up? Or, will they be consolidated into classrooms with more students in each class.
My kids are highly involved in both vocal and instrumental music in the high school both in their classes and a part of every extra curricular activity provided in performing arts. My concern and question is how is this project going to benefit that portion of the school. I have not heard of any additional learning space being added to the performing arts area of the school. You can't expect adding an additional 3 grades of music both instrumental and vocal music to simply be incorporated into the current space provided, just the additional instruments alone would require more storage space. Additional storage space would be needed for just the equipment that would need to be transferred from the middle school. In addition, our children have been honored to be selected to County Band and Chorus which has been hosted at other schools within Adams County. These schools have been able to host wonderful concerts due to the sound and lighting equipment their auditoriums have in them. Are there any plans to upgrade these facilities as well? Finally, it has now been 2 years since the pole lights were removed from the Marching Band's practice field. It appears the project is in the final phase of planning as it appears to be going out to bid soon. Once this is finalized can we assume the new lights will be installed back on the practice field in time for the upcoming fall season if the plans don't include any changes to that portion of the campus?
Gym space is at a premium for the schools as well as supporting the community. Currently we have 4. With the new school, will we be eliminating one of the valuable gyms?
Will the hallways (or corridors) be split in the new high school between younger and older students?
Once the middle and high school are one building... Will the middle schoolers share bathroom's with the high school age kids? It does worry me a bit that a 12th and 6th grade child could be alone together.
Will maintenance be conducted on the new buildings?
What big expensive statue will we get for the new school?
How will all sports to include tennis and throwing be ensured they are impacted by construction? For example, will new tennis courts be completed before the old is torn down?
Will the middle school be separated still when combined so they still have some sort of 'identity ' when it comes to school spirit?
Why did you choose to combine middle and high? Price?
My question is regarding HVAC in the new middle/high school building. Is it true that air conditioning is not part of the construction project? What is the reasoning for this beyond saving money? Is this really what is best for students and faculty in supporting a comfortable learning and teaching environment?
Why are you all so Adamant about the new School project when you know attendance in the Mams is down and more seniors are your majority Tax Base ?
When are the high school renovations set to break ground? How will we ensure the safety of all students when they're sharing the new secondary school? Bullying is a concern as well, there is a big difference from a 6th grader to a 12th grader sharing space on a bus and in the same school.
If recent prior surveys showed the community was more concerned about academics and least about enhancing secondary facilities, why did you do the opposite?
